Three Tar Heels Named to ACC All-Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three North Carolina field hockey players have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team for 2006, announced Tuesday be the league. Heather Kendell, a junior in eligibility last season, was named to the squad for the second year and was joined on the 31-player list by freshmen Riley Foster and Brianna O'Donnell.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Kendell, a forward/midfielder, is one of 13 players to repeat on the team after being named to the inaugural All-ACC Academic squad in 2005. An exercise and sport science major from Chapel Hill, she started 20 games last season for the Tar Heels, which finished the season 13-9.
O'Donnell, a goalkeeper, is a journalism major from Collegeville, Pa. Foster, a back, is a nursing major from Fort Worth, Texas. Both first-year players started all 22 games in 2006.
