McIntee Earns Second ACC Honor

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina novice eight finished a team-best third and junior Lisy McIntee was named All-Atlantic Coast Conference for the second year in a row on Saturday at the ACC Rowing Championships, held on Lake Hartwell.
Virginia took the crown for the eighth time in the eight-year history of the event. The Cavaliers won all four races and finished with 60 points. Host Clemson was second with 46, Duke was third with 43, Miami was fourth with 25, Boston College was fifth with 23 and UNC was sixth overall with 13 points.
McIntee, from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., represented the Tar Heels on the 14-member all-conference team. Virginia swept the awards for ACC Coach of the Year (Kevin Sauer), ACC Crew of the Year (UVa varsity eight) and ACC Freshman of the Year (Jennifer Cromwell).
The Tar Heel novice eight provided the day's highlight for UNC, placing third in 7:10.6. Virginia was first in 6:47.4 and Clemson was second in 7:06.3. Carolina's lineup for the race was Paige Wall (coxswain), Kallie Knop, Leigh Habegger, Cara Van Dorn, Kendra Radkowski, Kasey Munson, Andi Drabot, Molly Tesch and Diane Reynolds.
The morning's first race was the varsity four, in which UNC was sixth in 8:10.9, just sixth-tenths of a second behind Boston College. The Carolina lineup was Emilie Moseley (coxswain), Annie Baer, Lindley Barrow, Kayla Hackett and Whitney Hileman, with Hackett the only varsity team member in a boat otherwise made up of novices.
Following the novice eight race, UNC was sixth in the second varsity eight in a time of 7:14.7. The Tar Heel lineup was Emily Zepeda (coxswain), Chandler Sours, Elizabeth Gardiner, Emily Williams, Maeghan Sill, Priscilla Poor, Katie Wood, Kathryn Winz and Eugenia Delbono.
The final race of the day was the varsity eight. UNC finished in 6:55.4 to place sixth. The Tar Heel lineup was Shannon Wilson (coxswain), Lisy McIntee, Maegan Wareham, Adriann Spinks, Megan McMullin, Mary Sasson, Christin Cotten, Megan Mitzel and Ruby Woodside.
By finishing ahead of UNC in the overall standings, Duke picked up one point in the Carlyle Cup race, the annual all-sports competition between the two schools.
