Student-Athlete Graduation Reception

The North Carolina Department of Athletics honored its graduating student-athletes in a ceremony May 2 at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on the UNC campus.
The event, which included December 2006 and May 2007 graduates, was organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council in response to the fact that many student-athletes who participate in spring sports miss the UNC commencement ceremonies while competing. It was the first of what will become an annual ceremony.
The graduates received words of advice from Chancellor James Moeser, Director of Athletics Dick Baddour and men's basketball coach Roy Williams, who delivered the keynote address. Each of the 54 graduates in attendance received a certificate from Moeser and Baddour. A total of 125 student-athletes are scheduled to receive degrees this spring or graduated in December.
