
No. 10 Tar Heel Tennis Opens With Win Over Campbell

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 10th-ranked University of North Carolina men's tennis team opened its 2008 dual match season with a 7-0 shutout of Campbell in an indoor match at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels will play the second half of their opening-day doubleheader against North Carolina Central at 7:30 p.m.
After sweeping the doubles point while dropping only six games, the Tar Heels swept the singles with all six wins coming in straight sets. The closest of the matches was at No. 1 where senior Benjamin Carlotti bested Davy Sum of the Camels 7-6, 6-2. Fellow seniors David Stone and Will Plyler were victorious at No. 5 and No. 6.
The underclassmen carried the day in the middle part of the lineup as sophomores Stefan Hardy and Chris Kearney and junior Taylor Fogleman won at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
