Carolina's Patricia Earley To Be Inducted Into Charleston Southern's Athletic Hall of Fame

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Patricia Earley, the assistant head coach of Carolina's women's golf team, will be one of four athletes to be inducted into Charleston Southern's Athletic Hall of Fame this year. The banquet will be held Saturday, November 1st, at 6:30 p.m., at the CSU dining hall during Charleston Southern's homecoming weekend. The President's Cup Golf Outing will take place on Friday and the four inductees will be honored at halftime of the Charleston Southern-VMI football game on Saturday.
"I an honored to be inducted into the Charleston Southern University Hall of Fame and join many great student athletes who have been inducted before me," says Earley. "I had a very memorable four years at CSU and I am happy that I was able to help the women's golf program."
Earley, the former Patricia Martinson, had one of the best collegiate careers in Big South history, finishing as a four-time all-conference selection and three-time Big South Player of the Year. Playing at CSU from 1998-2001, she was named to the Presidential Honor Roll all four years and was a three-time CSU scholar-athlete. As a senior, she finished fourth overall at the Big South Championship, helping the Lady Bucs to the team championship. In the second round of the tournament, Martinson shot the low round of the tournament with a 72, setting a new course record at Wendemere Country Club in Blythewood, S.C. Martinson was the most valuable player on her team all four years and was selected the Charleston Southern Senior Athlete of the Year in 2000-01. Martinson had a spectacular senior year as she finished in the top 10 all year and in the top five all spring.
The other 2008 inductees are volleyball player Allison Arreola, football player Steve Blanchard and golfer Jim Gardas.
