SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Senior Addie Bracy was the lone North Carolina representative at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Friday, but she did not disappoint as she ran the 12th fastest time in the country in the 5000-meter run at 16:20.38. Bracy finished second behind only Virginia's Emily Harrison en route to claiming her third and best provisional mark of the year. Several Tar Heels will be in action on Saturday at the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet in Blacksburg, Va.
racy broke the school record in the 5000, running a 16:29.19, for a provisional mark at the ACC Indoor Championships in Chapel Hill a week ago. She would not let the record stand for long as she finished Friday's race nearly 10 seconds faster at 16:20.38 to reset the record.
"Just an outstanding race," distance coach Michael Whittlesey said. "I'm really proud of the year that she's having and look forward to another great race next weekend at NCAAs."
The Summerfield, N.C. native has put herself in a great position to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships scheduled for next weekend. The final participation list for the Championships will be announced on Monday.
