UNC Announces 2010 Men's Tennis Schedule

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Coming off a season in which it earned its 10th successive NCAA Tournament bid, the 2010 University of North Carolina men's tennis team will play a 24-match schedule this coming spring, including at least 14 matches against teams which competed in last year's NCAA Championship. Head coach announced the schedule Sam Paul Tuesday.
UNC will open spring play in two individual invitationals on the same weekend as some players will compete in the National Collegiate Tennis Classic January 15-17 in Palm Springs, Calif., while others will play in the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. January 16-18.
Carolina will open dual match play by hosting a doubleheader Sunday, January 24 with matches against Presbyterian at 1 p.m. and North Carolina Central at 7:30 p.m.
The Tar Heels will compete in the National Team Indoors Regional January 31-February 1 in Athens, Ga. UNC will play Miami and Georgia will meet Northwestern on January 31. The winners will face-off against each other February 1 for a chance to play in the National Team Indoors February 12-15 in Charlottesville, Va.
The 2010 ACC Tournament will be held in Cary, N.C. on April 22-25. NCAA regionals will be at campus sites May 15-16 with the NCAA Championships at Athens, Ga., May 21-31.
2009 NCAA Tournament teams on UNC's schedule this spring include Miami, Georgia, Northwestern, Ohio State, Michigan, Navy, Rice, Auburn, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke and Florida State.
