
Donato Advances In ITA Tournament

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - University of North Carolina senior Clay Donato had a successful start to his tournament play Thursday in the 2009 National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by Yale University.
Donato, a senior from Toronto, Ontario, won his match in the Round of 32 singles Thursday by defeating Marc Powers of Yale, the host school, in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
Donato will play in the Round of 16 Friday where he will face a formidable task. His opponent will be J.P. Smith of Tennessee, the tournament's No. 1 seed in singles. Smith won his Round of 32 match Thursday by beating Amit Inbar of UCLA, 6-4, 6-4.
