Tar Heels Wrap Up Play At Furman Fall Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. --- Third-place finishes by Katrina Tsang, Sophie Grabinski and Linzee Mabrey highlighted the action for the North Carolina women's tennis team Sunday at the Furman Fall Classic at the Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University. Tsang defeated No. 81 Keri Wong of Clemson, 6-3, 6-4, in the flight two third place match, Grabinski topped Northwestern's Kate Turvy, 6-2, 6-4, in flight four and Mabrey triumphed over Clemson's Caroline Magnusson, 6-3, 6-2, in flight seven.
Senior Sanaz Marand picked up her second win over a ranked opponent in the flight one fifth place match, besting No. 64 Monica Arguello of Furman, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0. Junior Jelena Durisic, freshman Zoe De Bruycker, sophomore Haley Hemm and sophomore Jennifer Stone were also singles winners on Sunday.
In doubles action, Carolina scored a pair of third place finishes at the top two flights. The No. 5 duo of Marand and Grabinski split a pair of matches in flight one, defeating No. 14 Josipa Bek and Ina Hadziselimovic of Clemson, 8-3, in the third place match. No. 18 Tsang and sophomore Shinann Featherston also toppled a Clemson pair, outlasting Wong and Magnusson, 9-8 (3), in flight two.
