Tar Heels In the Community

Throughout the year, Tar Heel student-athletes are involved in a wide variety of community activities as part of Carolina Outreach. Several of the activities in October were:

Members of the Carolina gymnastics and women's soccer teams hosted a Carolina Dreams event for a UNC football game. The organization brings youngsters who have been patients at UNC Children's Hospital to campus to spent time and attend a sporting event with Tar Heel student-athletes.

Tar Heel student-athletes took part in the NCAA Leadership Forum, held at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Alex McClelland (rowing) and William Leighton-Armah (men's lacrosse) were selected to attend along with Student-Athlete Development intern Niobra Peterson and Assistant A.D. for Student-Athlete Development Cricket Lane.

In what has become an annual tradition, Tar Heel student-athletes participated in the Jaycees Haunted House in Durham. The event raises funds for the Jaycees Burn Center at UNC Hospitals.

The UNC men's lacrosse team visited the local Ronald McDonald House.
