No. 22 UNC Scores Road Win In Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The 22nd-ranked UNC Tar Heels' strong effort in singles play secured a 6-1 victory over No. 34 Michigan on Saturday night.
After losing all three doubles matches, Carolina stormed back with six straight singles wins to clinch the team victory.
"I'm really proud of the team for battling back after losing the doubles point," said head coach Sam Paul. "It's a good road win for us to beat a quality team like Michigan on their home court."
The Tar Heels staged a similar comeback in 2009, when they hosted No. 32 Michigan on March 15 as the 37th-ranked team in the country. After losing the doubles point, UNC rallied in singles for a 4-3 upset victory. Clay Donato, Brennan Boyajian and Andrew Crone each won their respective singles matches against the Wolverines in both 2009 and 2010.
No. 70 Brennan Boyajian led the charge in singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win over George Navas at the fourth flight, which tied the team match at one. Ninety-seventh ranked Jose Hernandez then scored a 6-3, 6-4 upset of 34th-ranked Evan King at No. 2 singles to give UNC a 2-1 lead.
Andrew Crone's 7-3 victory in his first set tiebreaker propelled him to a 6-1 second set win over Chris Cha, putting the Tar Heels a point away from clinching the match. No. 107 Stefan Hardy came through for UNC, winning in three sets againt Mike Sroczynski.
North Carolina improves to 6-2 on the season with the victory. UNC will face Navy next in Chapel Hill on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 3:00 p.m.
