Preseason Interview with Christine Knauer

Christine Knauer received the highest award given by the Carolina Leadership Academy by being named a Leader of Distinction. The Carolina Leadership Academy (CLA) assists student-athletes in developing leadership qualities both on-and-off the field. Knauer was a member of the Veteran Leaders program within the CLA, which is designed to enhance the leadership qualities of team captains and upperclassmen student-athletes.
Knauer is a biology major with plans of becoming a doctor. She has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the past three seasons
Knauer is the leader in runs (44), stolen bases (27), and batting average (.317) of all returning Tar Heels in 2010.
The Tar Heels begin the season Friday at the Time Warner Invitational in Austin, Texas. Other teams in the tournament are Texas, LSU and DePaul. Carolina aims to make the NCAA Tournament for the eighth consecutive season.
