EUGENE, Ore. -
Mateo Sossah earned 7,509 points in the decathlon to place eighth at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in what was almost a record-breaking multi-event. Daniel Keller also competed in the multis final as the University of North Carolina track program took on its third day of national competition.
Sossah, who was runner-up in 2009's decathlon and 2010's indoor heptathlon, paced the entire multis field for the 1500 event in one of his best distance performances of the year.
Keller placed 11th overall in the decathlon with 7,350 points. He won the pole vault section of the multi-event, clearing 16-0 3/4. Keller had also qualified in the regional pole vault competition in May.
Saturday is the final day of the NCAA National Championships. Vanneisha Ivy will compete in the 100-meter hurdle final shortly after 11 a.m. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association will announce all final All-America honors after competition concludes.
