Gunter Takes Two Rounds At North & South Amateur

PINEHURST, N.C. - University of North Carolina golfer Courtney Gunter advanced to the quarterfinals of the 108th North & South Women's Amateur. She defeated Lindy Duncan in the first match and had to take extra holes in her second against Stefanie Kenoyer.
The rising sophomore from Matthews, N.C., took the first match two and three in 16 holes and never allowed Duncan to gain an advantage.
Gunter's second match play competitor took five extra holes after Kenoyer squared up the match on the 18th. She will tee off against Lisa McCloskey at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
Incoming freshman Jackie Chang competed against Emma Lavy, but lost her second-round match by one hole.
The tournament is being held at Pinehurst #2, which features a par-72, 6,286-yard lay-out.
