CHAPEL HILL- The UNC track and field program has announced that one of the nation's top middle-distance and cross country runners Jack Driggs has committed to UNC.
"I'm trilled to have Jack as a member of our team next year," said Peter Watson, UNC's assistant head track and field coach and head cross country coach. "Jack, is one of the most exciting young distance talents in the U.S. He has shown he can win the big meets, such as the Mid-Western Distance Gala last spring, and shows up when it matters. I expect Jack to contribute to this program from the moment he steps on campus."
Driggs, of York, Ill., is the top 1,600 meter runner in the country (4:06.81) and the No.4 miler (4:08.24). He also has one of the top 3,200 times of 9:06.13.
In this article on PrepGold.com, Driggs explained why he chose UNC over his other top choices: "I clicked really well with the team, Coach Watson and Coach Vanhoy. I think the fact that they are so young and so talented, that they really have the tools to do some damage on the national stage, and I want to be apart of that."
