Wake Forest Open- Final Results
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- North Carolina won four events on the second day of the Wake Forest Open Saturday, opening the 2012 outdoor season successfully in Winston-Salem. The Tar Heels took first in two individual and two relays events at the invitational, held at Wake Forest's Kentner Stadium.
Junior Jacinda Evans took first in the women's long jump with a leap of 19-10 1/4, more than 15 inches further than the second-place finisher (18-7). Also for the women, the 4x100 team of freshman Iman Wilkerson, junior Chrishawn Williams, freshman Amber Clark and senior Malai Walker won with a time of 45.98.
Senior Scott Houston cleared 16-10 3/4 to win the men's pole vault, and freshman Sean Sutton, junior Reynaldo Radlin, freshman Javonte Lipsey and sophomore Roy Smith also won in 3:10.42.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Lipsey (52.18), Radlin (52.50) and Smith (52.61) finished in third through fifth place, although they were the top collegiate finishers in the event.
UNC will compete next March 30-31, at the Raleigh Relays.
