Six Tar Heel Men's Tennis Players Earn Dean's List Status

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Six members of the University of North Carolina men's tennis team, which finished its 2012 season ranked 15th nationally on the court, have been named to the Dean's List for the spring semester.
It is anticipated eight Tar Heels will also be named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll when that team is announced in August. The ACC Honor Roll is based on academic performance for the entirety of the 2011-12 school year.
Dean's List honorees for the spring semester include senior Cameron Ahari of Tucson, Ariz., senior Brennan Boyajian of Weston, Fla., sophomore James Coxe of Raleigh, N.C., freshman Andrew Gores of Charlotte, N.C., junior Jose Hernandez of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and junior Taylor Meyer of Raleigh, N.C.
As a team, Coach Sam Paul's 12-member squad had a cumulative team grade point average of 3.34 for the spring semester 2012. That team GPA was the highest for any Carolina men's sports team during the spring semester 2012. It was also the highest cumulative GPA for the men's tennis team in a single semester dating back to available Academic Center records in the 1999-2000 school year.
Following is criteria for earning Dean's List status at the University of North Carolina:
To be eligible for the Dean's List, fulltime students who enter the University as first-time, first-year students beginning in fall 2010 and later must meet the following requirement: A minimum of a 3.500 semester grade point with no grade lower than a C if enrolled in at least 12 hours of letter-grade credit, exclusive of physical education activities (PHYA) courses.
Students who began their undergraduate studies at UNC prior to Fall 2010 must meet one of the following requirements:
A 3.200 semester grade-point average with no grade lower than a C if enrolled in fifteen or more hours of letter-grade credit, exclusive of physical education activities courses.
A 3.500 grade-point average with no grade lower than a C if enrolled in at least twelve but fewer than fifteen hours of letter-grade credit, exclusive of physical education activities courses.
