Monroe Continues Success On Pro Tour

Former Carolina standout Nicholas Monroe ascended to #75 in the ATP World Doubles rankings Monday after reaching the Semifinals of the Aircel Chennai Open last weekend with South Africa's Raven Klaasen. The pair defeated the #1 seeded team of Mahesh Bhupathi (IND) / Daniel Nestor (CAN), 6-4, 7-5 before falling to eventual champions Benoit Paire (FRA) / Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI) in a third set super tiebreaker, 6-7(9), 6-4, 1-0(10-8)
Monroe's doubles ranking improved 21 places over the last five months of 2012 (7/23/12 #96- 1/7/13 #75). At North Carolina Monroe achieved All-American status in 2004 (singles) and was a two time doubles champion of the ITA Mideast Regional (2002, 2003).
