Carter Into Singles Final, 3 Duos In Doubles Semis At ITAs

Carter breezed through two matches to reach the finals as the second-seed in the singles draw. She won 6-1, 6-2, over Brigit Foland of South Carolina in the quarterfinals and later downed Beatrice Gumulya of Clemson, 6-2, 6-1, in the semis.
Carter will face top-seed Beatrice Capra of Duke on Monday at 11:15 a.m.
Carolina's Ashley Dai also reached the quarters but lost to Capra.
Monday's two semifinal doubles matches will have strong representation from the home standing Tar Heels with three of the four duos still alive in the draw.
Laura Slater and Kate Vialle, a day removed from ousting the top-seed from Duke on Saturday, won 8-6 over Clemson's tandom of Tristen Dewar and Yana Koroleva.
Dai and Tessa Lyons won in a walk over to reach the semis and will take on teammates Slater and Vialle on Monday at 10 a.m.
On the other side of the doubles draw, second-seeded Carter and Jamie Loeb cruised to an 8-1 victory on Sunday over Marianne Jodoin and Alyssa Smith from Duke.
Carter and Loeb will go up against third-seeded Gumulya and Jessy Rompies from Clemson on Monday morning.
Admission is free for all fans for Monday's conclusion of the five-day event.
