Tar Heel Rundown: October 25
October 25, 2013 | General
In case you missed it yesterday, good news on the GSR front for Tar Heel athletics as a whole.
Football
BC head coach Steve Addazio says the Carolina ground game is "outstanding," which even Larry Fedora might say is a little generous...The Tar Heels are trying to get better in the red zone...The Eagles are 0-2 on the road and hungry for a road win...It's the 50th anniversary for the 1963 Gator Bowl team, many of whom will be back in Chapel Hill this weekend. Lee Pace has more on that squad in case you're not familiar with them...As Lee notes, they've been an underappreciated team in Carolina history...Speaking of Lee, he's on Twitter now...Here's the uniforms for tomorrow--white/blue/white in honor of the 1963 team:

Basketball
One of the biggest storylines of the early season will be NCAA rule changes to limit physical play. Carolina players describe the substantial effect the rules have had in scrimmages...A breakdown of Carolina's power forwards...The Tar Heels are trying to pick the pace back up in 2013-14...Brandan Wright may not be ready for the Dallas opener...The Spurs chose Danny Green (who had 12 points last night) to model their new camo uniforms...Marvin Williams is trying to get back his explosion.
Olympic sports
Women's soccer grabbed a 2-0 home win over Clemson...Fun look at the "noon ball" games between soccer coaches, assistant coaches, and whoever else happens to be around...Crystal Dunn is back from her stint with the National Team.
Today's games
Volleyball hosts Maryland at 5 p.m. at the Smith Center (before Late Night - watch on GoHeels TV). Women's golf is in Wilmington for the Landfall Tradition. And, of course, Late Night is tonight (watch on GoHeels TV).
Tar Heels in the NFL
The New York media has identified one of their main scapegoats for the struggles of the Giants, and it's Hakeem Nicks. The trade deadline is Tuesday.
Today in Tar Heel history
The one-year anniversary of this glorious date officially falls on Sunday, so we're celebrating a little early. Don't think this clip needs much introduction:
Long read
As long as we're remembering Gio, this Adam Lucas profile of Bernard is the best look at that play and at Bernard's career (and life) that brought him to that point.
