October 29, 2013 | General
Check back on the site later today for an exclusive Q&A with Roy Williams. Plus, the new issue of CAROLINA digital magazine is out. Search for "Carolina magazine" in the Apple app store.
Football
Bug Howard was stellar against BC...Notes from Larry Fedora's press conference on Monday...Eric Ebron wasn't shy about talking about Saturday's game against NC State...ACC power rankings.
Basketball
Carolina is looking for better production inside this year...Leslie McDonald is open to either starting or being a sixth man. Based on everything from the preseason so far, you'd have to expect him to come off the bench...There are still some questions to answer before next Friday's season opener...Ty Lawson may have to miss Denver's season opener...
One of the highlights of Late Night was Sean May's surprise appearance and introduction of a video feature on the first 10 seasons of the Roy Williams era. Side note: May did a great job on that intro, a hard thing to do live in front of 20,000 people when you're not necessarily used to it. There's a future for May in television if he wants it.
Olympic sports
No one at Carolina gets social media better than women's soccer. Exhibit 1,214 (Katie Bowen is going to be tough to beat):
The women's basketball team talked about the temporary absence of Sylvia Hatchell...
Today's games
None.
Tar Heels in the NFL
Today at 4 p.m. is the NFL trade deadline, and the hottest UNC-related name remains Hakeem Nicks...Brandon Tate was quietly effective for the Bengals on Sunday...Robert Quinn was a beast for the Rams in Monday Night Football:

Quinn was crediting with setting the early tone for the St. Louis defense.
Today in Tar Heel history
Oct. 29, 1957: Happy birthday today to Steve Robinson, who has quietly been one of the guiding forces in the Tar Heel basketball program since his arrival in Chapel Hill ten years ago.
