Today in Tar Heel history
Nov. 21, 1987: In one of the signature games of the Dean Smith era, third-ranked Carolina toppled top-ranked Syracuse, 96-93, in the Hall of Fame Game. The Tar Heels played without star J.R. Reid and veteran Steve Bucknall due to a disciplinary matter, but Ranzino Smith scored 21 points and Jeff Lebo added 20, and freshman Pete Chilcutt forced overtime with a buzzer-beating jumper in his first college game.
Long read
Go back to the Coach Smith section, find one that you didn't read before, and spend some time with that one. There's no telling how many more chances like this one we'll have to celebrate one of the greatest Tar Heels ever.
