The Adam Lucas column from Saturday's win tried to sum up the overall day...See the Long Read section for the full video of the Dean Smith halftime ceremony...John Calipari was very complimentary of James Michael McAdoo..."It's time to embrace the possibility that Carolina is a national title contender"...The Kentucky take on Saturday's game, in which Marcus Paige is mentioned in the same sentence with Christian Laettner (don't worry, it's meant as a compliment)..Dime Magazine says Carolina is the best college at producing NBA players...
If you only have time for one video highlight from Saturday's game, it's this Brice Johnson alley-oop with the accompanying terrific call from Jones Angell and Eric Montross:
But we all know that after seeing that one, you're going to want to watch the entire highlight package:
Tar Heels in the NBA
Marvin Williams has become a cornerstone player for the Jazz...Harrison Barnes and John Henson are listed in this ESPN Insider story as two of the top 25 players in the NBA under the age of 25...Terrific story about Harrison Barnes' visit with a Make-a-Wish kid. Barnes had 20 points and 12 rebounds in Friday's win over Houston...
John Henson continues to produce for the Bucks and had 15 points and eight rebounds on Friday, then followed it up with 18 and 13 in Saturday's loss to Dallas...Vince Carter had 15 points and nine assists in that same game...Brandan Wright made his season debut in that game and was impressive, scoring 19 points...Ed Davis had 12 points for Memphis on Friday...Ty Lawson had 12 points and eight assists in a win over New Orleans Sunday...
Danny Green wore a Jimmy Goldstein shirt to Jimmy Goldstein's house. You probably don't know the name, but you will likely recognize this face:

Going to go out on a limb and say DG has some great stories on this topic. Goldstein is, ah, a little eclectic.

Tar Heels in the NFL
Big day for Quinton Coples back near his hometown, as he had five tackles, including a sack and two tackles for loss, at Charlotte...Da'Norris Searcy had four tackles for the Bills...Hakeem Nicks had one catch for five yards as the Giants really struggled...Gio had 46 total yards and a touchdown on Sunday Night Football.

Today's games
Women's basketball faces New Orleans in Myrtle Beach at 6:30.
Today in Tar Heel history
Dec. 16, 1972: Jason Stanicek, one of the most versatile and underrated quarterbacks in Carolina history, was born. Stanicek remains in Carolina's all-time top five for career total offense.
In scary news, Jason Stanicek is 41 years old, which makes the rest of us...let's see...nope, still the same age as when he played!
