BASEBALL: On Tuesday, freshman Trent Thornton fell four outs short of a no-hitter in a 12-0 win over Gardner-Webb ... The next day, Carolina beat High Point, 7-2 ... Carolina hosted Miami for a three-game series over the weekend ... On Friday, the Hurricanes handed UNC its first loss of the season ... On Saturday, Carolina blitzed the 'Canes, 14-2 ... On Sunday, Carolina took the series with a 4-1 win ... UP NEXT: Carolina will host Princeton on Tuesday at 6 p.m., then visit Boston College for a three-game series next weekend.
