Leadership Academy Wall of Honor
May 15, 2013 | General, Leadership Academy
It's back! The wall of honor featuring the Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction from the Richard A. Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy has been installed at the Loudermilk Center for Excellence. The display features a tile for each honoree, depicting that student-athlete in action in his or her sport.
Annually, the Leadership Academy honors its Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction. It is the highest honor which the Leadership Academy bestows. These student-athlete have earned the utmost respect from their teammates, coaches and themselves.
The display was initially installed at the old Kenan Field House. That building was replaced by the Loudermilk Center, where the tiles were reinstalled this fall. The new installation also includes the Leadership Academy's new logo which reflects its renaming after UNC Director of Athletics Emeritus Dick Baddour.
This year's class of Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction include nine outstanding student-athletes, bringing the total recognized as such to 186 since the academy was founded in 2004. Leaders of Distinction for 2012-13 are Joseph Alter (men's fencing), Patrick Barrett (men's golf), Ryan Creighton (men's lacrosse), Kent Emanuel (baseball), Jordan Gafa (men's soccer), Scott Goodwin (men's soccer), Maura Masatsugu (gymnastics), Clayton Parros (men's track and field) and Jenna Rodrigues (women's fencing).
