Previewing Carolina: The Magazine
August 23, 2013 | General
The all-electronic magazine, the official publication of the Carolina athletic department, will be readable via an app already available by Google Play download for Android Tablets (download here) and in a web viewer through GoHeels.com upon release.
The magazine's Apple iOS app is awaiting approval from the Apple development team. Fans will be notified as soon as it is available. The Google Play app is compatible on most Android tablets and some (but not all) Android phones.
The goal of the new publication is to combine unique Tar Heel athletics stories, exciting photography, innovative design and the best UNC sports video to provide a behind-the-scenes look into Carolina athletics that you've never seen before.
There are plenty of quick-hitting features you can breeze through in one sitting on your tablet. But each edition will also include multiple extended features with the best writing about Tar Heel student-athletes and coaches.
The first issue of Carolina: The Magazine includes:
• A cover story on Sean Tapley, who didn't grow up a Tar Heel, but proposed to his girlfriend at the Old Well this week and says, "Carolina means something more to me than football."
• An Adam Lucas column on a Tar Heel student-athlete who was nearly eaten by a hyena.
• The week's most must-read links about Carolina athletics.
• A look back at Michael Jordan's first basket as a Tar Heel.
• Plus every issue includes a rotating stable of columnists with extensive experience either playing for or covering the Tar Heels.
Carolina: The Magazine debuts on Tuesday, with a new edition to be released each Tuesday throughout the rest of the school year.
