Tar Heels To Honor Trailblazers In UNC Athletics
January 27, 2014 | General
Carolina Athletics has a strong history of achievement and innovation, a tradition of excellence that spans more than a century. But every success story has to start somewhere.
Tar Heel Trailblazers is a new UNC Athletics initiative that will recognize those who paved the way for success in all aspects of the Carolina student-athlete experience. Periodic stories on GoHeels.com and in CAROLINA magazine will shine a spotlight on pioneers who have made memorable and lasting contributions.
The program will kick off in February when, in honor of Black History Month, UNC recognizes four African-American trailblazers who made significant impacts on Tar Heel athletics.
Check back Thursday for the first profile in the series, and for one per week in each of the next three weeks. The four Black History Month honorees will be recognized at halftime of the UNC-Wake Forest men's basketball game on Feb. 22.
