Four Tar Heels Compete at Hilton Garden Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The University of North Carolina track and field teams sent four athletes to the Hilton Garden Invitational for competition on Friday in Winston-Salem. Stephen Mulherin, Iman Wilkerson, Kwame Donyinah and Charity Lackey all competed Friday.
Mulherin, a sophomore from Greensboro, N.C., placed ninth out of 44 athletes competing in the men's 3,000 meter run.
Wilkerson, a junior and native of Pittsburgh, Pa., placed 23rd in the field of 93 athletes that were competing in the women's 400. Wilkerson will compete again tomorrow in the women's 200.
Donyinah, a freshman of Charlotte, N.C., took seventh among the 88 athletes who competed in the men's 400.
Lackey, a freshman from Raleigh, N.C., won her heat in the women's 800 and finished 35th out of 75 athletes.
Tar Heels Isaac Presson, Ryan Walling, Elizabeth Whelan, Annie LeHardy and Scott Morgan will be competing in the Camel City Elite Races on Saturday. Presson will compete in the men's mile where he placed sixth in last year's meet. Walling and Morgan will compete in the men's 3,000 while Annie LeHardy will compete in the women's 3,000. Whelan will compete in the women's 800.
