Tar Heel Rundown: February 14
February 14, 2014 | General
Basketball
A look at how the new schedule (four games in eight days) impacts the Tar Heels, and a look back at when something very similar happened in 1991...Quotes from Roy Williams and also some quotes from Mike Krzyzewski on the postponement...The rescheduled game will be at 9 p.m. and will air on ESPN and the ACC Network...The latest ESPN Bracketology has Carolina in Orlando...Charles Scott is this week's Tar Heel Trailblazer...Don't forget the Smith Center Stripe Out vs. Pitt tomorrow.
Tar Heels in the NBA
Kendall Marshall and Ryan Kelly will have another week to continue their rivalry shenanigans...
Football
Spring storylines to watch as we approach the start of Blue Dawn conditioning on Monday...The suggested rule change that would ilmit fast-paced offenses "doesn't have much hard data" and doesn't appear to be based in fact at all...Larry Fedora, as you would expect, is not pleased:
@BFeldmanCBS @dennisdoddcbs Wow this is hard to believe! Hiding this under player safety is amazing

@BFeldmanCBS @dennisdoddcbs so we are not worried about player safety in the last two minutes?

Olympic sports
Women's basketball whipped Pittsburgh...It's never too early for a projection on the field of 64. No, not basketball, but in baseball.
Today's games
Fencing is at the Junior Olympic Championships in Portland. Track is at the UCS Invitational in Winston-Salem. The women's lacrosse game against Boston University has been moved to Saturday. The baseball games scheduled for this weekend in Chapel Hill have been moved to Charleston.
Today in Tar Heel history
OK, so this might not exactly be historical, but on this day in history, some Tar Heels were very creative with their snowman building. Thought this was solid work:

Long read
Before you turn your attention fully to Pittsburgh, enjoy Bret Strelow's account of his eight-mile hike to the Carolina-Duke game that wasn't played, and a similar story from a fan who tried to go to the game with his son (bonus: video of the son's reaction after getting the tickets for Christmas).
