
#8 Carolina Sweeps Syracuse

North Carolina (19-3, 8-1 ACC) found itself in a battle for the doubles point against Syracuse (3-10, 3-5). The third-ranked duo of Jamie Loeb and Hayley Carter breezed to an 8-2 victory at #1 doubles.
The Orange bounced back immediately to pick up a win at #3 doubles, leaving the match at Court #2 to decide the opening point. Carolina's 11th-ranked combo of Caroline Price and Whitney Kay was able to outlast their opponent to post an 8-7 (7-4) victory, giving UNC an early 1-0 lead.
Singles play was all Carolina, winning the six matches in straight sets. No. 47 Caroline Price was first to finish at #3 singles, followed by No. 7 Hayley Carter at #2 singles.
Kate Vialle clinched the Tar Heel victory at #5 singles to make it 4-0. Tessa Lyons followed with a win at #6, while wins by No. 1 Jamie Loeb and Whitney Kay at #4 singles rounded out the 7-0 victory.
Loeb is now 40-2 this season, including a perfect 9-0 mark in league action.
Carolina will host its next three contests at home, beginning with a pair of matches next weekend at Cone-Kenfield. The Tar Heels will take on No. 14 Miami on Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by No. 36 Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
