Some stat- and lineup-based projections for 2014-15. Carolina is slotted eighth and the story has some interesting thoughts on a variety of teams (UNC included)...Adam Lucas looks at how James Michael McAdoo's departure affects the 2014-15 depth chart and which players will see an increased role...Wayne Ellington thinks back on his 2009 Final Four memories (the championship game was five years ago yesterday)...Among TV guys, analysts get most of the attention in college hoops. But Dan Shulman, who is finishing a bucket list weekend, might be the best TV play-by-play man out there.
Friday NBA: Brandan Wright was terrific, shooting 10-for-10 from the field to score 23 points with five rebounds. As you might expect, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle raved about Wright...Ty Lawson had 16 points and three assists...Big night for Harrison Barnes, who scored 16 off the bench...Nine points and eight assists for Kendall Marshall...Tyler Hansbrough had five points and five rebounds...Nine points and seven assists for Raymond Felton...Six points and three rebounds for John Henson...Nine points and five rebounds for Marvin Williams.
Saturday NBA: Great night for John Henson, who put up 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three blocks in 39 minutes...Five points and eight rebounds for Tyler Zeller...Tyler Hansbrough had three points and five rebounds.
Sunday NBA: Kendall Marshall (10 points, 11 assists) double-doubled in a loss to the Clippers...Reggie Bullock hit a three-pointer in that game...Raymond Felton had 15 points and five assists against the Heat...Vince Carter had 17 points...Ten points and five rebounds for Harrison Barnes...Nine points and three rebounds for Ed Davis...Danny Green also had nine points...Seven points and four rebounds for Marvin Williams...Ty Lawson didn't play due to a sprained ankle.

Olympic sports
Somewhat unexpectedly, Tom Zengel has become a major part of the Diamond Heel offense...He helped the Tar Heels bounce back from a tough loss Saturday and win the series on Sunday at BC...Any time Larry Gallo gets an award, it's a good thing. He's one of the nicest and hardest working guys in the entire athletic department...Women's lacrosse got an important win over No. 2 Maryland. Ground balls and 50-50 balls were the key for the Tar Heels...
A couple hours later, men's lacrosse likewise got a big win, with theirs coming over No. 9 Virginia. Here's the terrific game-winning goal from that game, which came from R.G. Keenan, who had a tremendous senior day:
Women's tennis whipped Miami, which had been undefeated in the ACC and then followed it up with a shutout of Florida State. Doubles play was key for the Tar Heels...Men's tennis topped No. 30 FSU...With the team split between three meets, Carolina track had an impressive Friday...Elizabeth Mallett won the SMU Invitational and helped Carolina finish third as a team...Softball earned a sweep at Virginia.

Friday: Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless third for the Red Sox...Brian Roberts drew a walk and scored a run for the Yankees...Chris Iannetta bashed two doubles and drove in a run for the Angels.
Saturday: Dustin Ackley smoked a two-run homer in a 3-1 Seattle win...Kyle Seager had a double in that same game...Miller struck out the only hitter he faced.
Sunday: Miller pitched for the third straight day and threw a scoreless inning of relief...Roberts walked and scored a run for the Yankees...Ackley had a hit for Seattle and is hitting .292 in the first week of the season.
