Albert Honored By Exercise And Sport Science Department

Kacie Albert, a May 2014 graduate and four-year fencing letterwinner, has been honored as the recipient of the 2014 Scholar Athlete Award by the UNC Department of Exercise and Sport Science.
Albert, from Oxford, N.C., completed majors in exercise and sport science (sport administration track) and journalism and mass communication (public relations track). She graduated with highest honors after completing an honors thesis analyzing gender differences in collegiate fencing coverage.
An epee squad captain, Albert was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honorary society and was recognized as one of the top five scholar-athletes in the Class of 2014. While at UNC, she was active in the Richard A. Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy and earned Dean's List and Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition.
