WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women's golf team will compete in their final fall tournament at the Landfall Tradition starting Friday. The women's team is coming off an eighth place finish at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in a stacked field.
“It's a great tournament as we play against some of the top teams in the country and on a Pete Dye designed championship course,” Coach Mann said of the Landfall Tradition. “Landfall has hosted two NCAA Women's Golf Championships in the last 20 years and will be a great test for all the teams.”
The Tar Heels lineup is the same as it's been all year with minor adjustments in the order. Junior Leslie Cloots earned the No. 1 spot for the tournament and is coming off a great performance at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Cloots tied for third and shot a 68 on the final day. Lexi Harkins earned the No. 2 spot for this weekend. The sophomore placed sixth at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational and has two under-par rounds this year. Senior Elizabeth Mallett, freshman Kelly Whaley and sophomore Bryana Nguyen round out the starting five for North Carolina. Rachel Jones will compete as an individual.
The Landfall Tradition is being played on the Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall which features a par 72, 6,157-yard layout. You can follow the teams progress live on golfstat.com. A recap of performances and results will be available on GoHeels.com following the conclusion of each day.
