UNC Blanks Gators, Advances To National Indoor Final

Third-seed North Carolina (8-0) will face No. 8 seed Georgia on Monday at 11 a.m., in search of its second indoor title in three years. The Tar Heels won their first national indoor championship back in 2013.
Whitney Kay and Ashley Dai finished minutes apart on courts four and five, respectively, to send the Tar Heels into the title match Monday against the Bulldogs, who got the better of fifth-seed Cal in the other semifinal match on Sunday at the Boar's Head Tennis Center.
Kay won a pair of 7-6, 7-6 tiebreakers to push UNC in front 3-0. Meanwhile, Dai rallied back after dropping her opening set to clinch the match on court five.
Caroline Price had an easy go of it on court three, winning 6-1, 6-1, to put the Heels in front 2-0.
Jamie Loeb on court one and Hayley Carter on court two were battling into a third set when the match came to an end. Also, Kate Vialle on six was up a set when her teammate secured the final point.
In doubles, No. 13 Vialle and Dai went down early to Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan 2-0 and ultimately could not bounce back, falling 6-1 on court one.
Carter and Kay's serves proved too much for Spencer Liang and Peggy Porter as the duo snagged an early 2-0 lead on court two. Though Florida's duo cut their deficit to one, Carter and Kay put them away with a 6-2 win to even up the doubles matches.
Loeb and Price battled Brianna Morgan and Belinda Woolcock in their match on three, starting down 2-0. The match was highlighted by long volleys and some close line calls, but the Tar Heel tandem came back to win 6-4 and claim the doubles point.
