Akkerman Seals Victory For No. 1 Carolina

North Carolina (17-0, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) remained unbeaten on the year in doubles to grab the initial 1-0 lead over the Cardinals.
Carolina then turned on its afterburners in singles to maintain its unblemished record in 2015. No. 14 Hayley Carter gave up just two points on court two and No. 8 Jamie Loeb surrendered one point on court one to make it 3-0.
Akkerman, ranked for the first time in her career at 116th this week, won 6-3, 6-3, on court six for a 4-0 lead.
No. 125 Kate Vialle also won 6-3, 6-3 on court five, before Louisville earned a win on court five.
No. 16 Caroline Price closed out the match, winning on court three in straight sets for the 6-1 victory over the Cardinals.
UNC returns home to host Syracuse on Friday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m. from Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
