Carolina Finishes Tied For 24th At Nationals

ST. LOUIS --- North Carolina secured its third consecutive top-25 national finish as the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships concluded Saturday night at Scottrade Center. The Tar Heels, led by All-America redshirt freshman Ethan Ramos, scored 18.0 team points to finish in a tie for 24th with Indiana. UNC finished in the top 25 every year from 1985 to 1997 but hadn't done so in three years straight since.
Ramos, who lost in the 165 semfinals Friday night, suffered a pair of defeats in Saturday's consolation round of six. The Hawthorne, New Jersey, product fell to Jackson Morse of Illinois in the consolation semis 6-0 before a 12-4 major decision loss to Virginia's Nick Sulzer in the fifth-place match.
Led by four-time NCAA champion Logan Stieber, Ohio State claimed the team title with 102 points to outpace runner-up Iowa (84).
All six ACC school finished in the top 30, with Virginia Tech (10th), NC State (16th), Virginia (19th), Pittsburgh (21st) and Duke (28th) joining the Tar Heels.
