Shalane Flanagan Takes Ninth At Boston Marathon
April 20, 2015 | Cross Country, Track & Field
BOSTON - Former North Carolina cross-country star Shalane Flanagan competed in the Boston Marathon on Monday. Flanagan finished ninth timing in at 2:27:47. Flanagan had a shortened training period due to an injury in January, but only finished five minutes off her personal best time that she ran last year.
The Marblehead, Mass., native had trained extensively to try and win the marathon last year and her time was good enough to win it in all but three years of the Boston Marathon's existence. Flanagan has said that she will be back each year until she wins it.
