Loeb, Kalbas Earn Top Honors From ACC

In addition to Loeb, Tar Heels' coach Brian Kalbas also took home one of the league's top honors, as he was named Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career. Miami's Sinead Lohan was named the ACC Freshman of the Year.
Loeb, a native of Ossining, New York, has been named the ACC Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. She is just the third North Carolina student-athlete to earn the award and the seventh multiple-time winner in the history of the conference.
Loeb is ranked No. 7 in singles this week according to the ITA. She has compiled a 23-4 singles record during the 2014-15 campaign, including an 18-2 mark in dual matches this spring. She went 13-1 against the ACC and is a remarkable 27-1 against the league the last two seasons playing exclusively at No. 1 singles.
Kalbas, who led the Tar Heels to an undefeated regular season and ACC crown, has his Tar Heels ranked No. 1 nationally with a 26-0 overall record (14-0 in the ACC) leading into the ACC Championships. Under his leadership, Carolina claimed the 2015 ITA National Indoor Championship earlier this season. This marks the ninth coach of the year award for Kalbas, who was honored four times by the CAA as head coach at William & Mary in addition to his five ACC honors.
Earlier this season, Kalbas collected his 500th career victory in his 23rd season as a collegiate head coach.
Senior Caroline Price earns her third All-ACC selection, while sophomore Hayley Carter collects All-ACC honors for the second time. UNC was the only team to place three on the All-ACC First Team.
Price, ranked 20th in singles this week, leads Carolina with a 34-6 singles record, while her 23 dual match wins is second most in the country this spring.
Carter owns a 29-7 singles record and is ranked No. 15 this week.
Individual honors as well as the All-ACC teams were determined by a vote of the league's 15 head coaches.
The Tar Heels open the 2015 ACC Championship on Friday at 12 p.m. at the Cary Tennis Park against the winner of the second-round match between Boston College and Virginia Tech.
