
Cloots And Schechter on ACC Academic Team

University of North Carolina golfers Leslie Cloots and Maia Schechter were selected to the 2015 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team, ACC Commissioner John Swofford announced Thursday.
Cloots, a Global Studies and Economics major from Antwerp, Belgium, fired four top-20 and seven top-30 finishes in 2014-15. Cloots' top performance came at the LSU Tiger Classic where she tied for fourth place. She tied for 10th at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, tied for 13th at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge and tied for 17th at the ACC Championships. A two-year starter for Carolina, the rising junior led the Tar Heels with a 74.43 scoring average. She fired six under-par rounds, one in the 60s, and two even par rounds.
Schechter, an American Studies and Exercise and Sport Science graduate from Takoma Park, Md., carded four top-35 finishes. Schechter tied for 17th at the Lady Paladin Invitational, tied for 21st at the ACC Championships, tied for 22nd at the Powerade Cougar Classic and tied for 35th at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Schechter was third on the team with a 76.07 stroke average. She carded two under-par rounds, one in the 60s, and two even par rounds.
Cloots and Schechter were two of 32 student-athletes named to the squad. To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of clasification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
