June 4, 2015 | Men's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - For the second successive year, University of North Carolina sophomore men's tennis player Brayden Schnur has been named a first-team All-America by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Schnur earned the singles honor by meeting two of the criteria. He was a Top 16 seed in the NCAA singles championship. He also finished in the Top 20 of the final Oracle/ITA National Singles Rankings.
In the fall Schnur won the USTA/ITA National Indoor Collegiate Championship in singles. He was also the winner of the ITA Carolinas Regional singles title. He missed a month of playing time in the spring season due to a lower body injury but rebounded in time to anchor a lineup which led Carolina to the ACC Tournament semifinals, the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals and a final ranking of No. 11 by the ITA.
Schnur is the first Tar Heel tennis player to earn All-America honors in back-to-back years since Clay Donato in 2009 and 2010. He is the first UNC players to earn All-America honors in successive years in singles since David Caldwell in 1994 and 1995.
