UNC Track & Field Releases 2017 Schedule

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina track and field program announced the schedule of events for the 2017 season on Monday. The Tar Heels will host five meets during the indoor season at the Eddie Smith Field House and one during the outdoor season at Irwin Belk Track.
UNC will open the indoor season by hosting four consecutive meets, including the Joe Hilton Invite (Jan. 7), Dick Taylor Carolina Cup (Jan. 13), Art and Linda Maillet UNC Open (Jan. 14) and Tobacco Road Multis (Jan. 18-19).
The Tar Heels will then hit the road for four consecutive weeks and compete at the Notre Dame Invite (Jan. 21), the Hokie Invite (Feb. 3-4), the Camel City Invite (Feb. 3-4), the UCS Invite (Feb. 17-18) and the Doc Hale Invite (Feb. 17-18). UNC will also send athletes to Seattle, Wash. and Clemson, S.C., on Feb. 10-11 for dual meets against the Huskies and Tigers, respectively. North Carolina will conclude indoor regular-season competition by hosting the Kent Taylor Invite on Feb. 19.
The ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Notre Dame, Ind., from Feb. 23-25. The indoor season will conclude with the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in College Station, Texas, from March 10-11.
One week later, the Tar Heels will kick off the outdoor season by hosting the Dennis Craddock Carolina Relays on March 17-18. This will be the only home competition of the outdoor season.
The teams will then hit the road for the Raleigh Relays (March 24-25), Battle of the Blues (April 1), UGA Multis (April 5-6), Tennessee Relays (April 7-8) and High Point Invite (April 14-15). UNC will split the following weekend at the Georgia Tech Invite, UVA Invite and Duke Invite. The Tar Heels will conclude the outdoor regular-season schedule at the Penn Relays from April 27-29.
The ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place from May 12-14 in Atlanta, Ga. From May 25 to 27, athletes will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Round Championships with the hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore.
