#2 UNC Upset By Eighth-Ranked Wolverines

North Carolina (10-2) dropped the doubles point for the first time all season to fall behind 1-0 to the home-standing Wolverines, who improved to 6-2 with the upset victory.
The top-ranked doubles team of Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay lost for the first time in a dual match the season, 6-4, to No. 26 Mira Ruder-Hook and Brienne Minor.
Court three clinched the win for Michigan when Teona Velehorschi and Sara Remynse earned a 7-6 (4) victory over Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer.
In singles, #31 Kay tied the match up with an impressive 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 14 Minor, however, Najarian put Michigan back in front with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Marika Akkerman on court five.
#3 Carter finished off 17th-ranked Ronit Yurovsky on court one, 6-2, 6-4, to again knot the match at 2-2.
But the Wolverines swept the final three matches to garner the victory over the Tar Heels.
North Carolina opens Atlantic Coast Conference play this Friday against No. 12 Miami at 5 p.m. at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
