
Carolina Advances To ITA Indoor Semifinals

MADISON, Wisconsin – The third-seeded North Carolina women's tennis team took down LSU 4-1 to advance to the semifinals at the ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship Saturday afternoon.
North Carolina (9-0) will face off Sunday against second-seeded Georgia in a rematch of the 2015 finale. This will be the third-straight SEC team the Tar Heels will face in the tournament.
Carolina took the doubles point as No. 16 Jessie Aney and Kate Vialle posted a 6-0 shutout for the second-straight day. On Saturday it came against LSU's Skylar Kuykendall and Abigail Owens.
Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer secured the opening point with a 6-3 win on court three over Skylar Holloway and Ella Taylor.
In singles, No. 88 Whitney Kay continued her dominant play with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Jessica Golovin to double the Tar Heel lead at 2-0.
Sixth-ranked Hayley Carter also downed Joana Vale Costa 6-1, 6-1 to put Carolina one point away from the semifinals. Her streak continues to 13 singles match victories in a row and 25 on the season.
Skylar Kuykendall put LSU on the board 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Vialle
No. 112 Ouellet-Pizer was not far behind, however, as she secured both critical points on the day for the Tar Heels with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ella Taylor for the match.
