UNC Finishes Doc Hale VT Elite With Strong Performances

BLACKSBURG, Va. — The University of North Carolina track and field teams finished Doc Hale VT Elite with some strong performances from the field events. Several Tar Heels claimed personal records on the day.
Alexis Gannon had her best performance in a Carolina uniform jumping 41-7 ¾ (12.69 meters) in the triple jump to take second overall. Gannon's jump ranks fourth in the ACC this year.
Darryl Shaw also made the podium with a lifetime best jump of 50-3 ¼ in the men's triple jump. That's good for second in the ACC this year.
Nicole Greene placed second in the women's high jump with a new collegiate best 6-0 ½ (1.84 meters) clearance. That's just an inch below her personal record and is first in the ACC this year.
On the track Katlin Sherman ran 24.10 to capture second overall.
Mattie Webb finished first in the women's 5,000 and Chris Madaffari finished second in the men's 5,000.
Both the men and women fielded 4x400 relay teams. The men's took home the gold and the women took second place.
The women's 4x800 relay took second.
UP NEXT
The Tar Heels will head up to Ames, Iowa to compete in the Iowa State Invite. The Heels are focused and will aim to set qualifying times for the NCAA Championship as well as those who are still aiming to qualify for the conference championship which takes place at the end of February.
