Mallett, Cloots, Harkins Named To All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Elizabeth Mallett, Leslie Cloots, and Lexi Harkins were named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. Mallett, Cloots, and Harkins earned a 3.00 GPA or higher the previous semester and have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average GPA or higher over the course of their academic career.
Mallett, a senior from Sutton Coldfield, England led the team this year in the postseason as the low Tar Heel at the regional and the national championships. Mallett tied for ninth at the Standford Regional and tied for 36th at the national championships. Mallett posted a 75.71 stroke average in her senior campaign.
Cloots, a rising senior from Antwerp, Belgium, led the team this year in stroke average at 74.09. Cloots did something that no Tar Heel has ever done before, shooting three rounds of 4-under par three times in the same year. Cloots had her best finish of the year at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational where she tied for third at 2-under par.
Harkins, a rising junior from Crystal Lake, Ill., was a consistent scorer for the Tar Heels and provided the Tar Heels with timely exceptional rounds. Harkins had two round of 4-under 68 during the year, one of which came in the third round of the national championship, which propelled Carolina past the first cut. Harkins ended the year with a 75.35 stroke average.
