Heilmann, Ward Advance To Scuffle Quarters

GREENSBORO, N.C. (TheACC.com) --- North Carolina redshirt senior Troy Heilmann and NC State redshirt freshman Hayden Hidlay were named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Wrestlers of the Week after each defeated a pair of nationally-ranked opponents and led UNC and NC State to road wins over 12th-ranked Nebraska..

Heilmann, from South Plainfield, New Jersey, and wrestling at 149 pounds, led unranked UNC to a 22-14 win over 12th-ranked Nebraska on Saturday and a one-point by criteria road loss (17-16) to 15th-ranked Northern Iowa on Sunday.

In back-to-back performances, Heilmann defeated eighth-ranked Colton McCrystal of Nebraska in a major decision (13-4) on Saturday and sixth-ranked Max Thomsen of Northern Iowa (3-2) on Sunday. Heilmann's bout with Thomsen marked the second time this month he defeated the Northern Iowa wrestler by a 3-2 score. Heilmann's record on the year is now 15-1 which includes five wins over ranked foes and four victories over top-10 opponents.
