Carolina Women Went Undefeated

WALTHAM, Mass. – The UNC men's and women's fencing teams went a combined 11-1 Sunday during a full day of dual meet competition at the Brandeis Invitational. Fencing at the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center, the Tar Heel women were undefeated, including a 19-8 win over Atlantic Coast Conference rival Boston College. The Tar Heel men also beat BC and lost only to host Brandeis.

The UNC men opened the day with a win over Incarnate Word. After falling to the Judges, the Tar Heels went on to comfortable wins over Cornell, Brown, BC and MIT.

The Carolina women were victorious throughout the day, with the closest call a 15-12 win over Cornell.

UNC heads into final exams this week and the team does not compete again until 2018. The semester opens with a North American Cup competition in Virginia Beach, Va., Jan 5-8 before the team travels to the Penn State Dual Meets on Jan. 14.
