Nguyen And Walker Competing in U.S. Women's Amateur

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Bryana Nguyen and Brynn Walker began competition in the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship Monday. This year's championship is being played at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.Â
In round one of stroke play, Nguyen, a rising sophomore from Columbia, Md., shot a 4-over-par 76. She will tee off for round two of stroke play at No. 10 at 4:40 p.m ET on Tuesday. Walker, a rising sophomore from St. David's, Pa., shot a 5-over-par 77, and she will tee off at No. 1 at 11:10 a.m. ET. Both will look to improve upon their round one scores and qualify for match play, which will begin Wednesday.
Nguyen qualified at the Bethesda, Md. qualifier while Walker qualified in Monrow Township, N.J. Both had the best scores of their respective qualifying rounds.
Tournament information and live results can be found on the USGA's website. The field of 156 is competing in two rounds of stroke play. The top 64 players will advance and compete in match play to determine a champion.
