Five Heels Selected In ITA Preseason Rankings

TEMPE, Arizona - The North Carolina women's tennis team placed five players on the 2017 Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Preseason Rankings, as announced Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Sophomore Sara Daavettila is the highest ranked Tar Heel at No. 4 in singles, followed by junior Jessie Aney (No. 22), sophomore Alexa Graham (No. 42) and sophomore Makenna Jones (No. 65).
Aney and Graham are No. 12 in the preseason doubles ranking, while freshman Allie Sanford and Sara Daavettila are No. 38.
Sanford checks in No. 6 on the Women's Freshmen-Newcomer list.
Carolina will take part in the first ITA national event of the 2017-18 season, the Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational in Newport, Rhode Island. The even runs Sept. 15-17 at the grounds of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
The Tar Heels will also take part in the Duke Invitational this coming weekend in Cary, N.C.
