Carolina Wraps Up Round Two Of The Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team moved into 10th at the Mason Rudolph Championship Saturday after shooting an even-par 288 to stay at 6-over-par for the tournament.Â
Brynn Walker led the Tar Heels in the second round as she made par or better on 17 of 18 holes to finish the day at 1-under and 3-over par for the weekend. She moved up 10 spots and is now tied for 47th.
Freshman Ava Berner continues to be the top Tar Heel for the second-straight tournament. She fired in an even-par 72 to remain at 2-under, and she is tied for 24th heading into The third round.Â
Kelly Whaley shot a 2-over 74 to finish the day tied for 47th at 3-over par. Bryana Nguyen was 1-over par on the day and is tied for 53rd at 4-over par. Mariana Ocano had a much-improved day, shooting an even-par 72 to remain at 7-over par and tied for 60th. It was the second even-par round of her career. Clementina Rodriguez finished the day tied for 73rd at 13-over par competing as an individual.Â
"Overall the team had a better day," Head Coach Jan Mann said. "We are trending in the right direction and are glad we get another opportunity to compete on this golf course tomorrow. There certainly are some birdies to be made and we made our fair share today, but believe we can see more putts drop tomorrow and eliminate a couple mental miscues. We will continue to stay the course and love, fight and focus on all 18 holes tomorrow."
Arkansas continues to lead the field at the Vanderbilt Legends Club at 26-under par through round two. Abbey Carlson of host Vanderbilt now leads all players at 9-under par after firing in a 3-under-par 69 Saturday.
